Description:

The goal of this interactive session is to examine the role that communication can play in the teaching process. Topics to be discussed include setting the communication climate, using public speaking principles to guide classroom teaching, becoming sensitive to nonverbal communication in the classroom, facilitating small group and classroom discussions, and managing communication problems.

 Facilitator: Dr. Judith Rolls

Dr. Rolls has been teaching for over 25 years. She has authored and coauthored text books on Interpersonal and Public Communication and has published in Canadian, American, and international journals. Her research covers many areas of interest including pedagogy and communication competence. When she isn’t busy teaching, researching, and writing text books, Dr. Rolls is active as a communication consultant, organizational trainer, and guest speaker.
